Ulemu holds a PhD in Plant Breeding and Biotechnology from Makerere University, MSc in Agronomy and a BSc in Agriculture from University of Malawi.
She is a Lecturer and a Post Graduate Coordinator in the Agri-Sciences Department, Mzuzu University, Malawi. She is an Academic Leader at African Centre of Excellence in Neglected and Under-Utilized Biodiversity (ACENUB)
